Alibaba.com Digital Success Program for Mexican SMEs

For Mexican SMEs, the idea of selling globally can feel out of reach. Many small business owners in Mexico were unfamiliar with cross-border e-commerce and unsure whether a platform like Alibaba.com was built for businesses their size. The program needed to do more than inform. It had to build confidence, provide practical training, and make the path from local seller to global trader feel achievable. All of this had to be communicated in Spanish, with design and content tailored to the local market.

Alibaba.com launched the Digital Success Program to help small and medium-sized businesses in Mexico start their cross-border e-commerce journey and explore global trade opportunities through the platform. I designed and developed a Spanish-language landing page to introduce the initiative and guide potential sellers through the program. Supporting materials including a booklet and promotional banners were created to promote the program through events and partner channels.

I drafted the program content in English from materials provided by the Program Manager, translated it to Spanish with AI-assisted tools, and coordinated with the Marketing Director and a native Spanish speaker to refine and proof the final copy. I then designed and developed the full landing page, walking visitors through a hero introduction, local partner logos, program features, six course sessions with video links, and a FAQ section. The first two sessions were open to all visitors, with the remaining sessions available exclusively to Alibaba.com sellers, creating a natural entry point for lead conversion.

To support in-person events and partner distribution, I designed an 8-page booklet introducing the program and the Alibaba.com platform. The booklet covered a two-year success journey on Alibaba.com, a breakdown of all six program sessions, and real seller stories to make the opportunity feel tangible for Mexican business owners considering the platform.

I drafted the messaging in English, translated it to Spanish with AI assistance, and designed two ad banners to drive traffic to the program landing page. The creative focused on the support Alibaba.com provides to sellers throughout their journey, reinforcing the program’s core promise of practical guidance for businesses entering global trade.

The Digital Success Program brought together 13 speakers and 7+ partners across six sessions, reaching 500+ participants from the Mexican SME community. The landing page, booklet, and promotional banners worked together as a cohesive system, each piece moving potential sellers from awareness to enrollment. The program established Alibaba.com as an active partner in Mexico’s growing cross-border e-commerce space, not just a platform to list products on.
